Not sure what Tuatha De Danann (the title) has to do with the subject of the painting or Irish mythology, the origin of the title. Author is trying to hard. Some will call it art, some an exerted effort at trying to be LaCroix. It falls short.
In later interpretations of the myth, the Tuatha De Danann were said to have burned the ships they traveled to Ireland on to prevent retreat, creating billowing smoke and hence the dark clouds they were said to arrive in.
